Little Mika’s Journey to Recovery and Adoption
On December 10th, 2023, a petite dog named Mika was discovered in tears on the streets, her jaw broken and her condition dire. Despite her suffering, she wagged her tail when approached by humans who initially shooed her away. Mika's skeletal frame and inability to close her mouth underscored the severity of her situation. Determined to provide her with the care she desperately needed, we swiftly transported her to a larger veterinary clinic.
In the face of her fear of abandonment, Mika continued to wag her tail, yearning for assurance that she wouldn't be left alone again. We worked tirelessly to calm her anxious heart and reassure her that she was safe.
After four days, Mika’s bandage was removed, and eating became much easier for her. Although she was still 5 kilos underweight, she was on a good track. We gave her meals at least five times per day, and she always finished the whole bowl. She looked so much better and was such a good girl.
Mika endured a brief wait for her much-needed surgery, but compassionate souls who witnessed her suffering allowed us to move up the queue. The surgery, though small, was a success, and Mika spent the next 24 hours in a special recovery enclosure. By the following day, her spirits had lifted, and she managed to eat, despite the difficulty.
After filling her belly, Mika's newfound confidence shone through as she eagerly sought playtime. Four days later, her bandages were removed, and her ability to eat improved significantly. Although she remained underweight by five kilograms, her progress was undeniable. We ensured she received meals at least five times a day, and she consistently finished her entire bowl. Mika's transformation was truly remarkable, and her good-natured spirit shone brightly.
Mika returned to our shelter, patiently awaiting her chance for adoption. She exhibited a playful and mischievous side, often playfully taunting her fellow shelter residents. Regular veterinary check-ups reassured us that she was on a positive trajectory. Mika's constant smiles were a stark contrast to her initial fear, a testament to her unyielding spirit.
On January 27th, 2023, Mika's journey took a beautiful turn as she found her forever home. Her new godmother shared heartwarming pictures of Mika, showcasing her intelligence and contentment. Witnessing Mika's transformation and her newfound happiness brought immense joy to our hearts.
A picture of Mika still graces the walls of our shelter, a reminder of the incredible journey she undertook, and a source of hope for every dog we care for. We remain optimistic that Mika is leading a wonderful life, being the exceptional dog we always knew she could be.
