Tonka and Little P accompanied their owner, Kristofer Busching, to Colorado amid the COVID-19 outbreak in New York. While camping deep in the mountains, tragedy struck. Kristofer lost his footing during a hike, resulting in a fatal fall that also involved the dogs. Kristofer passed away instantly, and the two dogs sustained injuries.

Undeterred by their ordeal, the loyal duo steadfastly refused to leave their owner's side. The rescue operation required separating the dogs and taking them to an animal shelter. Tonka had a severely broken leg, and Little P had mostly superficial injuries.

Despite their fear and confusion, the two dogs found solace in each other throughout the ordeal. The vet stabilized Tonka's leg and transported the Pit Bulls back to Long Island.

The most challenging phase followed. Tonka's injury required 12 weeks of stable care, but Little P was an energetic and playful companion. Due to potential risks, the vet insisted on separating them to allow Tonka to heal properly.

While Tonka undergoes healing with a medical foster, Little P is being fostered by Kristofer's cousin. Little P is adapting well, but the primary concern is Tonka, a ten-year-old dog who had been with his dad since puppyhood. The question looms: Will Tonka overcome his trauma and be okay? It is universally understood that these separate foster homes are temporary; these inseparable dogs must be reunited as swiftly as possible. Losing their dad was already a heart-wrenching experience—losing each other is not an option!

Currently, Mr. Bones and Co. actively seek a forever home for the two Pit Bulls, with the stipulation that they be the sole dogs in the household.
