Introducing Pumpkin, a courageous mama dog on a journey from the tough streets to a recent rescue under unexpected circumstances at the Hawkins County Humane Society. Despite being heavily pregnant, Pumpkin managed to crawl under a shed without anyone noticing, leading to a heartwarming rescue mission.
Kennedy Margetjak, a compassionate staffer, shared the moment of Pumpkin's discovery: "I open the back door and call for her, and her head pops out from underneath! I knew something is wrong because she wouldn’t even come for treats! I walk out, and her pregnant self is wedged underneath the shed, struggling to get out but just can’t."
Initial attempts to free Pumpkin with a gentle tug proved challenging due to her advanced pregnancy. The shelter turned to Joey Arnold, the handyman, who skillfully used a jack to liberate Pumpkin from her predicament. The grateful canine emerged unharmed, expressing her appreciation for the rescue.
The Hawkins County Humane Society is now dedicated to finding Pumpkin a loving home where she can safely give birth to her upcoming litter of puppies. Despite the recent ordeal, Pumpkin and her soon-to-arrive pups are under the attentive care of the shelter.
This touching narrative underscores the ongoing commitment of shelters like Hawkins County Humane Society to ensure the well-being of animals like Pumpkin, ensuring they receive the love, security, and support they need during vulnerable moments.
